As I have just finished my spring semester of school, and before my summer semester starts up, I feel that it is time to get this blogging thing started up. What is a more perfect time to start it up than spring with all of the excitement of flowers, charcoaling, and lingering hours of daylight....and basketball!!!
Usually by this time every year, I am consumed with the Braves, Saturday mornings at the Cherry Street farmers market, and deciding it is best that I do not try to be a gardener no matter how much money I think it may save me. I am a follower of all sports, sometimes just so I can keep up conversation with my husband, but I am a true lover of the boys of fall and spring. However, this year I have become an avid follower of the NBA. With the OKC Thunder being the only major sports team in Oklahoma, I have learned that almost all Okies have become avid NBA fans. And why wouldn't we be??? The Thunder made it to the playoffs their second year in OKC and of course there's the NBA's leading scorer Kevin Durant who's average during the playoffs is 32.5 ppg. And let's not forget the rest of the dream team (Westbrook, Perkins, Ibaka, Harden...) who keep the fans pumped at all home games. It seems to make sense that Sports Illustrated has Oklahoma City as the 10th toughest place to play during the NBA playoffs. I did mention that this franchise has only been in the grand state of Oklahoma since 2008 right? There is even a Facebook fan page for us "OKC Thunder fans of Tulsa" so that we can all enjoy one of the best things to invade the Sooner State in a long time. So, here's to us Okies! Let's enjoy, embrace, and support this wonderful thing we have here. Not only because an excellent sports team can unite a community and boost it's surrounding economy, but because it can also unite an entire state! Plus, I'm pretty sure Durant or Westbrook can beat out Rose, Kobe, and D. Wade for MVP!
GO THUNDER!!!!
